The following policy positions, focused particularly on fuels, are held
by CECA as we feel that they are in the best interest of our small business
and
individual
consumers.
With no
other economic sector in the United States as completely dependent upon
one single fuel source (petroleum, 97%), there is an urgent need
to diversify the portfolio of fuels used for transportation in the United
States.
Over the
short-term, low sulfur home heating oil should be made available as
a service option for consumers. Over the long-term, low sulfur oil
should become the heating oil standard, with high sulfur oil phased
out of circulation.
To help
ensure a variety of consumer choices in transportation fuels, all
new cars sold in the United States should be equipped as Flexible
Fuel Vehicles (FFVs).
