Fuels Program

Consumers in the 21st Century need more choices in the fuels they use for transportation, home heating, and the generation of electricity. The CECA Fuels Program focuses on promoting more consumer choice by advocating cleaner and more sustainable fuels for consumers at equitable prices.

White Paper (September 2003) html /pdf

Title: Heating Oil Comes of Age: What Low Sulfur Heating Oil Means for the Consumer.
For the past 50 years, consumers of home heating oil have very little to choose from in terms of fuel products; with the advent of low sulfur heating oil, that is about to change. This report demonstrates what the introduction of low sulfur heating oil will mean for consumers.

Title: Differentiating Energy Sources and Carriers
As gasoline, hydrogen, ethanol, and natural gas are talked about every day in the popular press, some confusion can arise as to where our energy actually comes from. This primer clearly discusses the difference between an energy source (like oil) and an energy carrier (like hydrogen).
Upcoming Initiative
Title: 21st Century Fuels Initiative
The transportation sector is 97% reliant on petroleum. The electricity generation industry is dominated by coal. CECA believes that a diversified fuels portfolio is essential for maintaining fuel security, minimizing price volatility, and for introducing new products and services to consumers. To examine ways to expand the fuels portfolio, CECA is launching the 21st Century Fuels Initiative.
